My name is Mark Avery, Principal of North Valley Middle School. I have been in education for 26 years. Prior to working as an administrator, I worked at the high school level teaching mostly Social Studies and a little bit of Physical Education. In addition to my teaching duties, I spent a number of years coaching football and baseball. I began my administration career as a high school Activities Director and then a high school Assistant Principal before becoming the Principal at NVMS.

At North Valley we are committed to educating students through a three pronged approach: First, treat all students fairly, firmly and with love – as you would want your own child treated. This means cultivating a safe, caring, engaging environment while maintaining a high level of accountability for all. Second, provide a consistent, viable standards based curriculum in every classroom. It is our duty at the middle school to prepare students for high school. Finally, we must use sound, research based instructional strategies.
